YTCA UNDER 15 beat Durham in Home Centre Cup

The touring YTCA Under 15 recorded their first win in the Home Centre Cup by defeating Durham by 7 wickets.

Durham won the toss and opted to bat first. Opening bowlers Vaibhav Chandrasekhar and Shaun Ayrton bowled exceptionally well and kept the run rate in check. Vaibhav gave only 12 runs in his 6 overs and took one wicket.
Rehan Ayrton took 2 wickets and Shiv Mehra one as Durham could only score 124 in their 30 overs.

Gibson scored 38 and Hardy chipped in with a useful 24.

In reply borther Adnan Kamil Khan and Abdulla Kamil Khan got off to a blistering start and set the tempo for Shiv Mehra and Vishakh Chandrasekhar to knock off the winning runs in the 23rd over.

Shiv made 32 not out and Abdullah hit 45 while Adnan made 26. Whitehead took 3 for 26.

Coach Prosanta Chanda said – ” It was a great team effort and I am very happy with the performance of the boys.

In an earlier match the YTCA Under 15 lost a close game to Cleveland. Cleveland made 185 runs in 30 overs with S Gaudie hitting 109 – the innings was packed with some fantastic shots and drives.

Vishakh Chandrasekhar took 2 for 27 with his leg spin while off spinner  Rehan Ayrton produced a great spell of 2 overs with 4 wickets for 6 runs.

In reply – YTCA was coasting at 100 for 1 with some great batting by Adnan Kamil Khan and Abdulla Kamil khan but a middle order collapse saw them with 9 wickets down for 130. Some late hitting by  Shiv with 19 and Vishakh built up some hope but they were over when Vishakh got out for 17.

Shafiq took 3 for 26 for Cleveland.
