YTCU 15s emerged as Champions in the inaugural YTCA Youth Championship – U15 50 Over tournament organized by YTCA-Sama Sports

ket Council affiliated, Young Talent Cricket Academy (YTCA) have just completed yet another Cricket Tournament involving budding cricketers in the county. This time with first ever 50 over tournament for U15s – in addition to their own U15 team, Future Legends Cricket Academy (FLCA), Metro Cricket Academy, Young Champions Cricket Club and Centre of Excellence Cricket Academy participated in the tournament represented by talented U15s in UAE

After closely contested league games, YTCA finished top of the table followed by FLCA finishing second. In the finals, batting first, FLCA were all out for 144 in 43 overs restricted with some tight bowling by YTCA spinners. With YTCA’s strong top order line-up, FLCA struggled take wickets. YTCA achieved the target in 37th over winning the title by 6 wickets.

“Whilst T20s brought more entertainment to the game, 50 over game is much more skill based – it tests the temperament, application and adaptability of players in the longer format. We are focusing to maintain a balance between short and long formats by introducing more 40 and 50 over games to the youngsters” said Mahesh Fonseka, Director and Senior Coach of YTCA

Former Sri Lankan International player, and current head coach of FLCA, Naveed Nawaz said “Very well organized tournament at a time when 50 overs cricket is very important for kids to develop their temperament and fitness, I believe players learnt a lot in this tournament. Venues and wickets were exceptional and would like to thank YTCA for giving the opportunity for the youngsters”

YTCA, is one of the very few Cricket Academies in UAE those who create ample playing opportunities for young Crickets. They have so far organized more than 75 games in the current season, all games played on high standard turf wickets. Fonseka further said, “We will continue to create opportunities for kids, “50 Overs Youth Championship” will be included in our calendar every year and planning to introduce two-day format early next season”

Mahith Fonseka (YTCA), Giles Alwa (FLCA), Soorya Ramesh (CoE), Mohd Fraazuddin (YTCA, 2), Vivek Adithya (FLCA 2), Aarav Kumar (Metro), Vinayak Vijayan (YC), Macneil Norha (Metro) won man of the match awards in League games.

Inform Mohd Fraazuddin of YTCA won the Man of the Finals award as well as the Player of the Tournament for his all round performance both with bat and ball. Claren Joseph of YTCA won best bowler award and Vivek Adithya of FLCA won the Best Batsman award of the tournament
