In a thrilling last wicket stand – YTCA gave Philadelphia Cricket Club a scare but failed to secure victory despite another  fine century by Rameez Shahzad.
The match was played at Philadelphia Grounds in Durham.

Rameez who had earlier scored a century against Durham in a two day match singlehandedly toiled hard and hit 11 fours and six sixes in an astonishing display of batting off a mere 40 balls and a lot of his shots cleared the ground.

Philadelphia batted first to score 197 all out with Gerber scoring 79 in 49 balls and Haxwell scoring 46. Fahad Al Hashmi – the YTCA Captain bowled well to take 4 for 62 and Rameez Shahzad took 3 for 18 while Sairaj Venkat, Wasim Bari and Shahid took 1 wicket each.

In reply – YTCA started well with Adnan Khan hitting 22 but there was no support as the innings collapsed to 70 for 9. But a fine last wicket stand between Rameez – the centurion and Gul – the last batsman took them to 171 all out.

YTCA coach Prosanta Chanda was full of praise for Rameez who now has back to back centuries. Ramez son of former UAE player Shahzad Altaf also plays for Sunderland in the local league and has played for UAE earlier.
