Abdul Waheed and Sanoj Sundaram scored half centuries to ensure Greenshield Insurance Brokers defeated Abu Dhabi National Insurance by 17 runs on the second day of the Insurance Premier League cricket tournament at the Skyline University College grounds.
The tournament is organized under the auspices of the Sharjah Cricket Council.
Winning the toss and opting to bat first, Greenshield Insurance put on a solid 161 for six in 19 overs. While Waheed fired 51, Sundaram top scored with a significant 63.
Chasing a stiff target, Abu Dhabi Insurance were looking good till Aditiya held the innings firm scoring a gritty 55 but once he was out Abu Dhabi Insurance fell short by 17 runs.
In another match, Omega Insurance Brokers registered a seven-wicket victory over Al Naboodah Insurance Brokers.
Put into bat, Danish Jabbar played a swashbuckling innings to score an unbeaten 89 while Neville Pereria hit 30 as Al Naboodah amassed 168 for seven in 20 overs.
In reply, Omega Insurance chased the target with five balls to spare losing just three wickets. Jacob David (44), Faizan Uddin (23), Jiben George (49), Binesh Kodivari (22 not out) and Sooraj Roshan (15 not out) were the main contributors.
In the third match, Noor Takaful Insurance scored a 38-run victory over American International Group. Muhammed Siddiq (63 not out) was the star performer for Noor Takaful.
